This study explores the use of capacitance probes to monitor soil water in drip-irrigated melon production, focusing on appropriate irrigation set points to enhance yield and profit. Field experiments in South Carolina tested two set points (15% and 50% of soil water capacity) using EasyAg probes integrated with an automated drip irrigation system. Results showed that the 15% set point significantly increased yield and plant biomass. Capacitance probes proved robust for sandy soils, improving irrigation efficiency, reducing leaching, and simplifying management.
