Fusarium wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. niveum (FON), is a major threat to watermelon production, with races 2 and 3 being the most aggressive and lacking resistant cultivars. A study at the University of Georgia aimed to monitor the development of resistance to prothioconazole, the only registered fungicide for Fusarium wilt, as resistance could undermine its effectiveness and lead to disease control failures.
