In 2010, Alfalfa mosaic virus (AMV) was identified for the first time in Oklahoma, infecting pepper and white clover plants in Tulsa. The virus was confirmed through serological testing and RT-PCR, raising concerns about its potential impact on other crops, especially soybeans, in the state.
