In a 2010 survey of cucurbit viruses in Oklahoma, Tobacco ringspot virus (TRSV) was detected in cantaloupe, pumpkin, and watermelon samples from multiple counties, confirmed through serological testing and RT-PCR. This finding highlights the potential threat of TRSV to cucurbit and other vegetable crops, confirming its presence in the region since 1956.
