The Future Watermelon Farm Leaders (FWFL) program honors the next generation of growers and packers poised to lead our industry forward. It recognizes young leaders under 35 who are shaping the future of watermelon farming by fostering fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and dynamic leadership.

Eligibility:

    • Be 35 years of age or younger by February 1, 2025.
    • Be directly involved in a growing, packing, or farm-related business that is a member of the National Watermelon Association.
    • Not be a current state (chapter) or national watermelon queen.

Program Highlights:

    • Induction into the FWFL program.
    • Invitation to the 2025 National Watermelon Association Convention in Austin, TX, with a $1,500 travel stipend.
    • Committee meeting participation invitation to jumpstart leadership experience.
    • Recognition award as a program inductee.

To nominate an outstanding young grower or packer, please submit the name of the nominee and a brief paragraph (100–150 words) explaining why they deserve recognition to monicam@nwawatermelon.com by December 18, 2024.
